Acacia confusa is a perennial tree native to South-East Asia. Some common names for it are Acacia Petit Feuille, Small Philippine Acacia, Formosa Acacia (Taiwan Acacia) and Formosan Koa. It grows to a height of 15 m. The tree has become very common in many tropical Pacific areas, including Hawaii, where the species is considered invasive.
The wood is used to make support beams for underground mines and is also converted to charcoal. It is most known for its use as a leather tannin because of the intense dark dye that can be extracted from it. It is often confused with mimosa hostilis becuase of it’s similar traits.
Unfortunately due to the recent interest in Acacia Confusa some suppliers are offering the stem/branch bark of the trees and misrepresenting it as the rootbark. We offer only the finest quality Acacia Confusa sourced worldwide and ethically harvested.
